Story of Sakat Chouth

Once there were two brothers. Elder brother was very poor while younger was rich. Elder's wife used to work as maid at younger's house. So in terns, younger's wife used to give 3 chapaties and 2 rupies daily. This was the only income of elder's house.

Once when Sakat Chouth came, elder's wife was busy to clean her house, so she became late to reach younger's house for work. For this reason, younger's wife gave nothing to her.

Elder's wife was very sad that day as she had nothing to prepare food and puja. While returning o home, she collected grass from roadside and prepared 7 Pindis (round shape balls) for puja.

When her husband came home in night, he asked for food. When she replied that there is nothing to eat in house, he became angree and beated her badly for not cooking the food. She cried a lot, and slept like that only.

At mid night, Lord Sakat came and knocked the door. He asked her to open the door, but her body was full in pain, she replied- "I am very tired, come from the back door". Lord Sakat came inside. Then he asked for food. She said," I have nothing, only those 7 pindies of grass are there, if you wish, you can have those." Lord Sakat ate all. Then he said that he wants to go for shitting. She was tired and her body was paining so she replied in frustration," There is lot of space in my house, lot of corners are there, anywhere you wish can do."

After that Lord sakat asked that how to wash as there is no water , she replied,"why don't you clean with my hairs". Lord sakat did the same.

In the morning, when she got up, she saw gold and diamond every where in house. Even in her hairs were covered with gold and diamonds. She remembered all that happened in past night. She understood this was nothing but the blessing of lord sakat.
